Saturday market.
Anna's parents home, within walking distance to the capitol.
The neighborhood grocery store. Vintage aprons hanging in the freezer section. Precious!
Total hang-out spot for the neighborhood.
Ma & Pa taking a break from mowing the lawn. How adorable are they!? It was like out of a movie.
Rue Cou Cou (it's fun to say right?!) these paintings were inspired by the recent oil catastrophe.
Stormy Afternoon skies.
Anna suggested we take a day trip to Baton Rouge- only about an hour away. She thought I would like the first saturday market tradition & seeing Nene & Papa's house & all of Nene's artwork & also Rue Cou Cou- this vintage/antiquey artsy shop & cafe. Turns out lady knows me well. It was amazing.
Wow...so many of your pictures just take you right back to the days when I was growing up 45-50 years ago...just like the "old" days. So much history lurking round those areas you kind of forget that there are places really like that anymore!!!
ReplyDeletei could totally live here mom. (in baton rouge i mean. & specifically this neighborhood near the capitol)like i could TOTALLY picture it. like i fantasized about living in savannah before we actually went... & then when we did visit, i knew i would never want to live there. but this was different. it was like a southern Ballard in a way, if that makes sense. anyway, i'm strictly just saying...we're NOT actually moving
